Auschwitz, World War II

Following this private tour of Auschwitz, you’ll see a side of history you thought never existed. Auschwitz, one of the largest Nazi concentration and death camps, opened in 1940 as a detention centre for political prisoners. In a very short period of time, the centre evolved to become a network of camps. People who were perceived as enemies of the Nazi state were exterminated, used as slaves, or subjected to medical experiments. One of the most significant events associated with this camp is that more than a million people lost their lives at Auschwitz during World War II. Adolf Hitler, the Chancellor of Germany, implemented the Final Solution, where artists, communists, educators, homosexuals, Gypsies, and mentally and physically handicapped people, who were deemed unfit for the survival of Germany were to be eliminated. Hitler also considered the Jewish people as enemies, who were to be eliminated. This policy was to be implemented by the construction of death camps, which was an extension of concentration camps. The sole purpose of death camps was to kill Jews and other undesirables. This event is also known as the Holocaust. Auschwitz was the largest of all the death camps. Our chauffeur-driver will show you the areas including locations where factories and neighborhoods were appropriated by the Nazis for the construction of Auschwitz.
