The Legend of Dracula

Considered a hero in Romania and a devil by many — Vlad Dracul III inspired the story behind the character Dracula penned by Bram Stoker. In this guided luxury tour, our chauffeur-guide will give you a first-hand experience of how the legend of Dracula evolved. During the 15th century, Christian Europe was under constant attack from the Ottoman Empire. As a member of the secret society of Christian knights, Vlad II came to be known as Vlad Dracul, or Vlad “the Dragon.” When Vlad III was born, he was known as Dracula, or “Son of the Dragon.” While defending his homeland, Vlad Dracula III engaged in savage acts of torture and barbarism. After impaling his victims, Vlad left them as displays on skewers as a warning to invaders. Legend has it that Vlad executed tens of thousands of victims in this horrific fashion, and even drank their blood. Some consider his actions a ruthless measure to restore order in his homeland and keep the invading armies at bay. See the houses where Vlad Dracula III lived, and many cultural artifacts, which are well-preserved, in the local museums, from the comfort of your own private limousine in this private tour of Romania.
