Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum
Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, or simply Thyssen, is one of the most popular art museums in Madrid and beyond. Located centrally, Thyssen is part of the Golden Triangle of Art, which also includes the Prado and Reina Sofia. View this extravagant art collection, which began as a private collection in the 1920s and has grown to become one of the largest art private collections in the world, featuring more than 1000 works or art, with our chauffeur-guide, who is also well-versed in the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist styles of painting. Enjoy little-known stories such as the tale behind the Rue Saint-Honoré in the Afternoon, Effect of Rain by Camille Pissaro, which was exchanged by a Jewish couple for a visa to the United Kingdom during the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany. We highly recommend avoiding a visit to the museum on Mondays, when it is free for the public, but booking a private luxury tour on one of the other weekdays and see in great detail how artists expressed themselves through the centuries. If you’re an artist yourself, enjoy art, or an art collector, you’ll marvel at the art collection that clearly shows the evolution of painting styles through the centuries.
