Interesting facts about Europe

Prague

Burgenland was formed in 1921 in accordance with the Treaty of St. Germain from the western, German-speaking parts of Hungary. For the most part an agrarian province, Burgenland also contains a few canning factories. Eisenstadt, the capital, was for many years the home of Joseph Haydn, who lies buried in the province's peculiar Bergkirche (hill-side church). The Burgenland Haydn Festival at Esterhàzy Palace in Eisenstadt is one of the province's biggest cultural events. Lake Neusiedl, central Europe's only steppe lake, is also in Burgenland.
